There is a wide variation in knowledge around the subject of PFP coatbacks – ranging from “what are they and why do I need them?” to detailed calculation methods. Recognising these diverse opinions and methods, the poll of PFPNet Members raised this important aspect of detailing as an area that needs more clarification and guidance. To raise awareness and start a discussion on coatbacks – and hopefully gather opinions and information – Arnoud Breunese of Promat has produced a paper describing coatbacks and a simplified calculation method for determining their length. You can download it here.
Expect to see more articles and papers on various aspects of PFP systems as part of PFPNet’s aim of raising awareness and competency. Please contact us if you would like to contribute a technical article.
