What is PFPNet?
PFPNet is a not-for-profit, subscription funded, technical organisation, established to increase understanding and raise competency across the whole hydrocarbon passive fire protection (PFP) industry. Membership of PFPNet is open to Companies and Sole Traders, but not individual members.
What is PFPNet’s aim?
PFPNet’s aim is to give individuals and companies responsible for manufacturing, designing, specifying, installing, maintaining, inspecting and purchasing PFP the best understanding, information and training so they can make the right decisions that affect their area of responsibility, and the areas of others. Because they have been developed using the unique expertise and experience of its members, PFPNet wants its guidance, standards and training to be recognised by industry as best-in-class and mandated for use in projects and operations.
What does PFPNet do?
As the industry loses experienced practitioners, important lessons and data are being lost, mistakes are being repeated, or new mistakes made. PFPNet is trying to capture essential knowledge in the form of guidance, standards and training to help reduce the chances of costly errors and improve the cost-effective use of PFP.
PFPNet brings together and coordinates industry expertise to navigate a path through the many regulations, unresolved technical issues, and often conflicting opinions, to identify or develop the required best-practice guidance, standards and training.
And not in isolation. PFPNet is working alongside other industry organisations and bodies – such as standards organisations – bringing its PFP-specific knowledge to their work, and also recognising and adopting their existing good practice.
Why join PFPNet?
PFPNet relies on capturing the opinion and experience of its members. By joining PFPNet, you and your organisation will benefit from:
- Having full access to guidance documents, meeting notes and technical events.
- Bringing your opinion, experience and expertise to help identify, and solve, the issues that affect your work with PFP.
- Helping to shape the direction and content of the guidance, standards and training that PFPNet produces.
- Being visible as an influential voice within the industry.
- Having the chance to connect with clients and colleagues at technical subcommittee meetings, seminars and
events. - Increasing the influence of the organisation – more members provide a louder, more powerful industry voice.
What does PFPNet do?
PFPNet is managed by a Steering Committee drawn from the members and representing the different stakeholder
groups.
Membership fees are used to fund seminars, technical meetings, and work programmes, along with administration
fees. All technical activities are identified by the members, voted on, and then pursued by PFPNet.
Technical work is supervised by technical sub-committees around each topic, and members can sit on any sub-committee. The sub-committees can use the membership fees to appoint subcontractors to undertake the work for them if they wish.
What is the cost to join PFPNet?
The annual cost to join PFPNet is £6000 per annum for a Company, and £500 per annum for a Sole Trader. The annual membership fee allows any number of people within your organisation, from any office or global location, to be involved with PFPNet.
